Integrity
To us, integrity is about ensuring your plant, equipment and processes operate properly and within their design capability.
Set points and limits will be known to you and these must be inspected and maintained at regular intervals or continuously depending on the level of risk.
Potential hazards and risks will be known and layers of protection in place to prevent, protect or control.
Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) will assist in the prevention, control and protection. IEC 61511-1 Requires the determination of a Safety Integrity level (SIL) for the design of a Safety Instrumented Function (SIF).
Integrity is an outcome of good design, construction and operating practices, and it’s achieved when facilities are structurally and mechanically sound and produce the products for which they were designed.
It’s about making sure plant and equipment has structured inspection and maintenance routines that are adhered to, to ensure they operate within limits and as expected. It’s also about minimising risk and being ready to manage an incident whether large or small.
EPM Solutions can work with you from concept stage – ensuring the specification and selection of equipment that is fit for purpose – through to detailed design, construction and commissioning, acquisition, operation, modification and maintenance, right through to decommissioning, dismantling and removal.

Following on from Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) and Hazard Identification (HAZID) studies, we can help as follows:
- Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA),
- Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments,
- Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) design,
- IEC61508 - Functional Safety of Electrical/ Electronic/ programmable Electronic Safety Related Systems
- IEC61511, Functional Safety: Safety Instrumented Systems for the process industry,
- HSG254 (Developing Process Safety Indicators, a Health and Safety Executive published document).Development of risk matrices to ensure risk reduction.
