The risk assessment will ask: What Can Happen?
This stage seeks to identify any risk within your operation – with risk referring to potential harm to people, the environment and assets. Here, we would evaluate and detail the consequences, and determine what risks are acceptable.
The next stage is risk treatment – what can we do about the risk?
This step lies at the heart of the overall asset integrity management process. Successful risk treatment ensures that selected barriers are in place, and not just on paper.
Barriers are the functional groupings or safeguards and controls in place to prevent the occurrence of an incident.
